Oxford Conservation Associates (OCA) was formed by three conservation/restoration specialists Jamie Chatfield, Peter Linstead-Smith and Jeremy Barrow. They first met at West Dean College in Sussex, well renowned for it’s post graduate conservation and restoration courses. Through OCA clients are able to access our extensive contacts with a wide ranging knowledge of conservation.

OCA provides a comprehensive service to public organisations, private clients and collectors who are looking for highly qualified and experienced practitioners conversant in the latest techniques of museum conservation through to sensitive restoration.

The OCA service includes, where appropriate full written estimates, condition reports, treatment proposals, audit trails and advice on preventative conservation, coupled to an ethical and sympathetic approach to the project. Some work may require two or more specialists which OCA can provide, saving the client both time and expense.

The Associates have all been operating in their respective fields for many years and our clients include the National Trust, museums, Historic houses, the trade as well as Oxford University and private collectors.

Conservation and restoration services embraced by the OCA include Furniture and Wooden objects, Upholstery, Decorative Surfaces, Clocks, Ceramics, Gilding, Fine metals, Paintings, Picture Frames, Architectural Joinery and Historic Wooden Interiors, Wood Carving,as well as Textiles, Paper and Book conservation.

Our Associates are members of many trade associations and professional bodies, including UKIC, The Worshipful Company of Clockmakers and The British Horological Institute.

What is special about OCA is that we bring clients into direct contact with the appropriate Associate(s) from the start of a project. The commercial arrangements are also direct between the Associate and client, thereby reducing unnecessary overheads and leading to competitive pricing.

Our clients are based in Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties, and also West London.
